The gap of career aspiration between adolescence and their parents

Abstract

The aim of this study is to get information about the magnitude of career aspiration gab between teenager and parents and its correlation with family interaction and emotional independence. The subject of this study are 295 students of grade 11th and 12th years of a public high school at Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta. Result show that there is a negative significant correlation between gap aspiration career (among adolescent and their parents) and emotional independency (parental deidealization aspect, ?=-0.118, ?= 0.006). It means the higher skor in emotional independence, would be followed by the lower of aspiration career gap between parents-adolescence, and vice versa. There is also shown a negative significant correlation between gap aspiration career (between adolescent and their parents) and interaction with family (?= -0.331, ?= 0.000). It means the higher skor in interaction with family, would be followed by the lower of aspiration career gab between adolescent and their parents). This result shows the importance of emotional development among adolescence and it’s relation wiht interaction with the family in aspiration career gab between adolescence and their parent.
